The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has officially cancelled the 2011 Southeast Asian Futsal tournament, previously scheduled for Jakarta, Indonesia.

According to the AFF, the host Indonesia proposed that the tournament be held in December when the 26th SEA Games and the 2012 Asian Futsal Championships’ qualifiers would be closed. But many participating countries did not support the proposal.

Other countries who could host the tournament, such as Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, refused to sponsor as the AFF announced its decision too late.

In preparation for the upcoming 26th SEA Games and the 2012 Asian Futsal Championships’ qualifying round, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will hold training courses for Vietnamese players to improve professional skills. It will also create an opportunity for the national futsal team to play with the strongest team of the Thang Long International Futsal Tournament in Hanoi from October 5-10.
