The APEC Investment Forum 2006 (AIF) will take place in Hanoi on November 15-16, drawing more than 600 representatives from APEC member economies, said Phan Huu Thang, director of the Foreign Investment Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment on November 6.

Mr Thang said that the AIF-2006 will include a plenary session where Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will deliver a speech and workshops on investment promotion among APEC member economies. It will display documents and introduce the investment environment and opportunities in APEC economies.

Mr Thang said a workshop on Vietnam's investment attraction will focus on the country's new policies such as the Investment Law and Enterprise Law and other policies related to Vietnam’s investment and orientation for investment attraction in the near future.

The forum, an annual event organised during the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, aims to help APEC economies exchange experiences in attracting and effectively using foreign investment, as well as discussing measures to enhance economic and investment relations among APEC member economies and between APEC and other economic partners.
