According Dao Trong Cuong, director of Than Chau Ngoc Viet Company, his workers and himself, made the portraits to introduce foreign guests to a special form of art practiced by local handicraft artists.

The company was successful in making hundreds of portraits of President Ho Chi Minh, President Ton Duc Thang, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Cuban President Fidel Castro and many other famous people and presented them to museums.
