The International Media Centre (IMC) of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) officially opened in Hanoi on November 10. As many as 2,000 local and foreign correspondents will gather there next week to cover APEC activities.

Deputy Head of the Press and Information Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Luong Thanh Nghi said the opening of the IMC shows that all preparations for this important event have been completed. “We will do our best to help reporters fulfill their tasks to contribute to the success of the conference”, said Mr Nghi.

Chief Representative of Japanese newspaper Nikei in Australia Tomohiro Takasa said Vietnam has made good preparations for the APEC Week. He believed that with modern facilities at the IMC, foreign reporters can do their job well in the most convenient and comfortable way.

IMC covers an area of 4,000 square metres. It has a main press briefing room which can accommodate more than 300 reporters at a time and many media booths.

The organising board in collaboration with Radio the Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam Television has set up an audio-visual transmission network to serve media workers on request in no time.
