Many senior officials from APEC member economies agreed that Vietnam has become a potential tourism market in the world.

The fourth APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting (TMM) concluded in ancient Hoi An town, central Quang Nam province on October 18. Many senior officials from APEC member economies agreed that Vietnam has overcome a lot of difficulties to complete a huge volume of work to organise the meeting successfully.


Head of the Australian tourism delegation Ms Patricia Kelly said Vietnam has overcome difficuties to welcome APEC delegates considerately. She believed that the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting which is scheduled for November in Hanoi will be a great success of Vietnam.


Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services under the US Department of Commerce, Ana
M. Guevara expressed his delight at being in ancient Hoi An town. “We are deeply impressed by Vietnamese people’s friendliness and hospitality”, he said. He added that the TMM offered a good opportunity for member economies to promote dialogue and exchanges for the sustainable development of the tourism sector.


Malaysian Minister of Tourism Victor Wee said Vietnam has great potential to develop tourism as the country has a lot of beautiful beaches. He said, Vietnam and Malaysia should co-ordinate to attract more tourists. “We are willing to share experiences in tourism with Vietnam”, he emphasised. 


The Republic of Korea’s (RoK) Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, Yang Woo Park stressed that Vietnam has become a great tourism market in the world, especially for RoK visitors. He said the tourism sector has actively contributed to boosting the relations between the RoK and Vietnam.
