Lanterns, lanterns everywhere in Hoi An

VOV.VN - Thousands of local residents and visitors swarmed the ancient town of Hoi An on February 21 to experience the jubilant atmosphere of the annual spring Nguyen Tieu Festival.

Aside from TET, it is the largest festival of the year, filled to the brim with activities—  everything from solemn rituals and poetry readings to exciting dances, lottery games and traditional games.

During the evening, the local people light lanterns in front of their homes, eat che troi nuoc, sticky rice dumplings with caramel ginger syrup, signifying family unity and good fortune.

There is also plenty of dancing and music along with food and drink events.

The river also quickly fills with colourful lanterns and sampans ferrying passengers on a scenic cruise through the maze of lanterns that line the banks of the river.
