Royal Ao Dai go on exhibit in Hanoi

(VOV) - A three dimensional multimedia artworks installation featuring royal Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese long gown) by German artist Veronika Witte has opened at the Goethe Institute in Hanoi.

Veronika Witte has been working in Berlin since 1998 in the fields of sculpture, video and scenic installations and has a stellar reputation for blurring the lines between visual arts, music and opera.

The historic gowns were worn by the queens and royal family members during the early 20th century at Vietnam’s imperial capital of Hue, located in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

They are from the private collection of Professor Thai Kim Lan, who holds a PhD in philosophy from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and has taught in Ho Chi Minh City and Hue since 1994.

The event commemorates the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties which will be organised at the Goethe Institute Hanoi, at 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ba Dinh District through January 31.
