Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Int’l Challenge 2015
(VOV) - The 2015 Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge officially kicked off at the Cau Giay gymnasium in Hanoi on March 17 with 296 athletes from 17 nations competing for top honours.
This year, Vietnamese No 1 seed Nguyen Tien Minh is not participating in the tournament due to a scheduling conflict with training for upcoming international competition.
Vietnamese female athletes Vu Thi Trang (No 3 seed in single’s event) and Nguyen Thi Sen/Vu Thu Trang (No 6 seed in the couples’s event) are odds on favourites for medals.
The organizing board has announced the champions in the men’s and women’s singles events will each receive US$1.125 for the first prize, while the second and third place finishers will receive US$570 each.
Similarly, in the couple’s event, the cash award will be US$1.185 for the champs and US$570 for second and US$210 for third place.
The event runs through March 22.
