Cement exports decline in volume, value for 2016

Customs officials said that stiff competition from Thailand and China played a key role in causing the fall over the past year. The Philippines, Bangladesh, Taiwan and Mozambique were among the major importers for the year.

During 2016, the Philippines and Bangladesh imported 3.8 million metric tons and 4.7 million metric tons of cement and clinker from Vietnam, respectively.

Experts at Customs warn that a major cement glut is poised to hit the domestic market keeping sales in terms of volume and value low through the first-half of 2017.
