Digital technology helps improve businesses' competitiveness

VOV.VN -  Small and medium-sized enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City learned how to make full use of digital technology at a workshop on November 2 which was co-sponsored by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Google Asia Pacific (Google APAC).

VCCI considers digital technology an important tool of business operation, helping enterprises improve their competitiveness.

In 2015, 90% of Vietnamese companies used the Internet but 60% of them suffered from IT problems.

While mentioning the boom of mobile phones, especially smart phones, Head of Channel Sales of Google APAC Matthew Heller cited the results of surveys as saying that SMEs will operate better when they have a good website.

Their sales could increase four times as compared to other firms that operate without digital technology if they use websites and digital devices, he added.

Dau Anh Tuan, a VCCI official, said those with effective IT applications had easier access to new incentives and policies, thus reducing their time spent on administrative procedures and having better business operation.

There are currently 52 million Internet users in Vietnam, ranking 5th in Asia.
