The 7th National Sports Festival for Ethnic Minorities, Zone II, officially kicked off in the central province of Quang Nam on July 20.
The biennial event has attracted more than 750 athletes from 17 provinces and cities namely Kon Tum, Binh Duong, Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Gia Lai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ninh Thuan, Phu Yen, Quang Ngai and the host Quang Nam.
They are competing in eight sporting events, including the men’s football, men’s and women’s volleyball, cross-country running, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, tug of war, and stilt walking.
The festival, which will last until July 25, aims to develop the sports and physical training movement to improve health and spiritual life, as well as preserving and upholding traditional cultural values and strengthening solidarity among ethnic minority groups.
