The APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting will attract 250 participants from 29 delegations, including tourism ministers of 21 member economies, and APEC Secretariat members, observers and international tourism organisations and the meeting will release the Hoi An Declaration on Strengthening APEC Tourism Cooperation.
This was announced at a press briefing held in Da Nang city on October 11 in preparation for the fourth APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting which will take place in Hoi An ancient town from October 12-16.
Hoang Tuan Anh, deputy head of the National Administration of Tourism highlighted great efforts made by Quang Nam and Da Nang in overcoming the consequences of the Typhoon Xangsane and actively preparing for the meeting. He said that Hoi An has made good preparations for the event so far and the meeting will take place as planned. He added that the APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting will provide good opportunities for these two localities to promote the image of cultural heritages, historical relics and tourism potential.
Tran Minh Ca, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee said the Hoi An Declaration will help advertise the Hoi An trademark abroad.
At the coming meeting, participants will discuss different issues including safety and security for tourists, tourism development policies, and measures for sustainable development of tourism.
