Nguyen, who was born in Texas, USA, received his identity card and registered to live in his father’s home village in the southern province of Ben Tre.

He arrived in Vietnam in January, 2009 and played for Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club for a year before transferring to join Becamex Binh Duong, staying there for several months until he was injured. He is now a free agent and continues to live in Vietnam.
