As many as 236 swimmers are competing for 106 sets of medals at the National Youth Swimming Championships, which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 19.
On the first day of the tournament the host team topped the medal tally with four gold medals followed by the Military Club, Quang Binh, Long An, Hai Phong and Thanh Hoa.
In the U10 50m breaststroke event, Vo Hoai Han from Can Tho finished first in 38.19 seconds, three seconds faster than the former record set by Trieu Bao Son on the Ministry of Public Security team in 2010.
