Another spring has come to the nation and its atmosphere is spreading through every door. This spring, VOVNews marks its seventh anniversary. A hard working year has past with numerous successes, difficulties and challenges.
Like other journalists, the nearly 30 staff working at VOVNews share the miraculous achievements Vietnam has recorded during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, as well as the losses caused by natural calamities, the bird flu epidemic and other disasters caused by humans. All this has been covered by VOVNews in the most immediate and precise way to cater for various tastes of millions of VOVNews readers.
Last year, VOV launched four of its major channels (VOV1, VOV2, VOV3 and VOV6) on the Internet through VOVNews, with a total broadcasting time of more than 80 hours a day. This was considered an invaluable source of food for thought for VOV listeners near and far. Vietnamese nationals living abroad can now log onto www.vovnews.vn, click the mouse and select their favourite channels. Geographical distance is no longer an obstacle. By doing so, students studying on the other side of the world can quickly keep themselves updated with news about the country’s situation in different areas, including weather forecasts. They can even directly follow to football matches of the National Football Championships (V-League) on VOV2 and VOV3.
The world seems to be smaller thanks to scientific and technological advances and the rapid development of information technology (IT), which sometimes agitate those working on it.
To welcome the Year of the Dog, VOVNews presented special programmes, with many stories from various genres in the hope of bringing a special spring gift to readers and listeners near and far, as well as making overseas Vietnamese feel less homesick. We hope you all have a peaceful and happy spring and a strong belief in the country’s bright future and VOVNews’s rapid development.
