A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai arrived in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on June 18 to attend the East Asia Economic Summit within the framework of the World Economic Forum.

Upon his arrival, Mr Hai had a talk with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in the RoK. He briefed them on the country’s current situation and affirmed the government’s resolve to boost economic development and attract foreign investment, creating a driving force behind sustainable development.

He analysed the impact of the global economic recession on developing economies and said that given the context Vietnam should take every precaution, but at the same time seize any chance, for development.

He also had a working session with representatives of Kumho group who briefed the Deputy PM on their operations and future plans in Vietnam. The representatives expressed their desire to have long-term investment in the country, especially in infrastructure construction, urban areas, express railway lines and waste treatment projects.

Mr Hai praised the group’s efficient operation in Vietnam and affirmed that the Vietnamese government creates a healthy environment for foreign investors to operate in the country.

On June 19, Mr Hai will deliver a speech at the East Asia Economic Summit which brings together 300 political and corporate leaders from 35 countries in the region.
