DPRK, Vietnam hold 5th deputy foreign minister-level policy exchange
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu paid a working visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from October 21 to October 26 to conduct the 5th Vietnam - DPRK deputy foreign minister-level rotational policy exchange.
Deputy FM Vu and his DPRK counterpart Pak Sang Gil discussed the situation in each country, and expressed their delight at the recent developments made in terms of bilateral relations in the fields of politics, diplomacy, defence, security, culture, and sports.
The Vietnamese diplomat affirmed the Vietnamese side’s consistent stance of always attaching importance to and wishing to promote stronger and more substantial development of co-operative relations with the DPRK across multiple fields on the basis of compliance with international law. This is in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the two countries as a contribution to maintaining peace, stability, co-operation, and development in the region and throughout the wider world.
Regarding political relations, the two sides agreed to continue intensifying delegation exchanges, thereby continuously strengthening political trust and expanding substantive co-operation between the two countries. Other efforts include co-ordinating to gear up for the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-DPRK diplomatic relations ahead in 2025.
Both sides consented to bolster ties in areas such as culture, sports, and tourism, strengthen delegation exchanges between people's organisations of the two countries, and encourage and facilitate the expansion of exchanges and co-operation through channels, including locality-to-locality collaboration in order to contribute to further deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, including maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the East Sea.
They concurred to continue to closely work alongside and support each other at international and regional forums such as the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). The two sides agreed to hold the sixth Vietnam-DPRK deputy foreign minister-level policy exchange in Vietnam in the future.
