France, Vietnam exchange experience in handling voters' petitions

VOV.VN - A delegation from the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee's Ombudsman Commission led by its chairman Duong Thanh Binh paid a working visit to the city of Montreuil in France on December 9 to discuss and learn about the reality of maintaining contact between NA members and voters and citizens in terms of handling and resolving petitions, complaints, and denunciations.

At the meeting Binh showed his delight that the joint relationship has upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership following Party General Secretary To Lam's visit in October, expressing great appreciation for the good friendship and co-operation which has existed between both legislative bodies over recent years.

He briefed the hosts on the functions and tasks of the NA Standing Committee's Ombudsman Commission, noting a wish to learn and discuss the organization and operation of French agencies in dealing with people's petitions, specifically the relationship of the NA’s people's petition agency with the Government, courts, and relevant agencies.

Binh especially emphasized practical experience in maintaining contact with voters and citizens, along with handling voters' petitions, complaints, and denunciations.

For his part, Deputy Mayor of Montreuil Bélaïde Bedreddine was delighted and honoured that Montreuil, where the statue of President Ho Chi Minh is located in the city's Montreau Park, is always a trusted address, visited by many high-ranking delegations of both the Vietnamese Party and State.

Deputy Mayor Bedreddine shared the experience of Montreuil in receiving citizens' opinions, stressing the encouragement of citizens to increase their reflection through e-portals or hotlines on all issues related to public services, public operating systems, or any incidents occurring in daily public living spaces. These may include issues such as fallen trees, broken public lights, and indiscriminate dumping with sanctions which can include fines of up to EUR2 million.

Thibaud Mathys, head of the Operations, Law and Documents Department of Montreuil, introduced the voter opinion management software and expressed his willingness to co-operate and provide the Vietnamese NA’s Standing Committee's Ombudsman Commission with issues related to policies, laws, and practice.

As part of this occasion, the two sides also agreed to promote exchanges and decentralized co-operation in all areas of trade, investment, development ties, education, and training, as well as creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community based in France.

During the working trip, the Vietnamese delegation paid a floral tribute to the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Montreau Park in Montreuil and visited the city's Living History Museum, which preserves many memorabilia about President Ho Chi Minh.
