The northern border province of Lang Son should make the best of its resources available to develop trade, services and tourism, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

While working with the provincial authorities in Lang Son City on April 7, Mr Triet noted that the province has well tapped its potential, including four international and national border gates, a key highway and railway line in recent times, resulting in a high economic growth rate. Despite the global financial turmoil, Lang Son achieved a GDP growth rate of 8.21 percent in the first quarter of this year, which was much higher than the national average.

He said that the Prime Minister’s recent approval of the Dong Dang border gate economic zone will create a prerequisite for Lang Son to obtain rapid growth in future. He asked the province to introduce incentive policies to attract human resources to and develop this economic zone.

He also asked Lang Son to better care for the poor and social policy beneficiaries who are most vulnerable to economic difficulties.

While in Lang Son, Mr Triet visited the provincial police, Huu Nghi international border gate and Bao Long limited company.
