The PM made the remark while co-chairing a working session between the government and the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) in Hanoi on March 9 to review their bilateral coordination in 2009 and discuss directions for this year.
Mr Dung said the government and the VFFCC should join hands to better promote and encourage people from all walks of life to participate in emulation movements.
He said it is necessary to work out new mechanisms and policies to mobilise and support the role of religious dignitaries and outstanding individuals as well as overseas Vietnamese, along with speeding up administrative reforms, practising thrift and strengthening the fight against corruption, waste and negative effects.
Mr Dung also called for greater efforts to improve the efficiency of dealing with civil complaints and other legal actions lodged by citizens.
Under the joint work plan, the government and the VFFCC will expand and consolidate the great national unity, including coordination in carrying out social programmes and accelerating the implementation of emulation movements.
