Vietnam is building a roadmap for IT development with the aim of becoming a strong IT country, said Mr Dung.  

He highly valued the corporation’s investment and business strategies, saying despite the global economic crisis, Intel has poured its investment into a project in HCM City, supported Vietnam in training IT engineers and provided low-cost computers.

The Vietnamese government keeps a close eye on the implementation of the Intel-invested project in HCM City, considering it an important foreign project in Vietnam, said Mr Dung.  

He expressed hopes that Intel would continue to train Vietnamese IT workers and supply human resources for its factory when operational, as well as providing low-cost computers for schools and hospitals in the country. 

He welcomed the corporation’s plans to develop advanced technology and cooperation programmes with Vietnamese universities.

For his part, Craig Barrett said that he is impressed with Vietnam’s achievements, especially its IT infrastructure development. He said that a strong education system plus good IT infrastructure will help a nation increase the competitive capacity of its economy and Vietnam is on the right track. 

He assured Mr Dung that the Intel-invested project in HCM City will be completed on time and its factory will churn out first products in early 2010. He also said that his corporation will cooperate closely with Vietnam in education and training and IT infrastructure development.
