Vietnam attaches great importance to promoting cooperation with Austria – an important member of the European Union, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving ambassador Johannes Peterlik in Hanoi on June 22.

He acknowledged the ambassador’s significant contributions to boosting cooperation in economics, culture, education and science and technology between Vietnam and Austria during his working term in the country.

He noted that with Mr Peterlik’s efforts, two-way trade between Vietnam and Austria increased considerably last year, reaching approximately US$250 million. In addition, Austrian-funded ODA projects in health care, transport and education are being carried out effectively in the country.

Mr Dung expressed his hope that the ambassador would make a further contribution to strengthening bilateral cooperative ties.

The ambassador expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s strong development in recent times and affirmed that he will try his best to foster ties between the two countries.
