Vietnamese State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has received Myanmar’s Minister of Commerce General Tin Naing Thein, who is leading a delegation of the country’s Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) to visit Vietnam.

General Thein, who is also a member of the USDA’s Central Executive Committee, briefed Ms Doan on the relations between his organization and both the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO).

He said on April 1 that the USDA now has a large membership of 24.9 million and is striving to achieve four major goals, namely national unification, unity between ethnic groups, sovereignty, and raising people’s patriotism and health.

For her part, Ms Doan hailed the USDA visit to Vietnam, which she said helped boost the traditional ties of friendship between the two nations. She expressed her thanks for the Myanmar people’s support for Vietnam’s previous liberation struggles as well as its ongoing construction process.

The Vice President also hoped the USDA would continue to work with the VFF and VUFO to promote friendly exchanges between the people of the two countries as well as bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
