Vietnam, Belarus hold political consultation

VOV.VN -   Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and his Belarusian counterpart V.B. Rubakov co-chaired a political consultation at the deputy foreign ministerial level in Hanoi on June 28.

The two sides agreed to increase visit exchanges and mutual understanding, boost multifaceted cooperation, and improve the performance of the intergovernmental committee on cooperation in economics, trade, science, and technology.

They noted with satisfaction the development of the two countries’ relations, especially in the signing and ratification of the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement (FTA).

They also discussed a number of regional and global issues of shared concern, including the situation in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and the East Sea.

Both deputy ministers hailed the outcomes of their ministries’ cooperation, pledging to continue close coordination to boost bilateral ties and work together at international forums like the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international organisations of which Vietnam and Belarus are members.

Vietnam and Belarus agreed that disputes should be resolved via peaceful means and in line with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and that the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) should be fully implemented towards adopting a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
