A delegation of the Central Steering Board for Judicial Reform led by its first deputy chairman Truong Vinh Trong has paid a working visit to the UK and Northern Ireland.
The visit, which ended on April 6, aimed to inquire into the organisation and operations of the UK’s judicial system, and introduce Vietnam’s policy to finalise its legal system.
The delegation also learnt about the UK’s viewpoint on the implementation of the agreements on extradition and judicial assistance in criminal matters between the two countries in accordance with the joint statement signed during PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to the UK in March 2008.
During the visit, Mr Trong, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, worked with Justice Secretary Jack Straw on matters related to judicial reform, where he asked the UK side to assist Vietnam in judicial verification, and English and international law training for Vietnamese judicial workers.
Secretary Jack Straw said the UK will assist Vietnam and cooperate with relevant Vietnamese agencies within its capacity.
The Vietnamese delegation also had working sessions with the UK Royal Court and a number of British lawyers’ associations.
