Vietnamese naval ship engages in multinational exercise in Indonesia

VOV.VN - Ship 09 of Naval Region 2’s Brigade 171 has set sail from Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to participate in the fifth Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2025 (MNEK-25) in Indonesia, according to the Quan doi Nhan dan (People's Army) newspaper.

Organized biennially by the Indonesian Navy since 2014, the exercise is a non-combat event designed to strengthen friendship, build trust, and boost coordination among participating navies in disaster management and humanitarian assistance efforts.

MNEK-25 will take place over seven days, from February 16 to 22, featuring harbour drills, at-sea maneuvers, marine environmental protection activities, an international fleet review, maritime security seminars, bilateral meetings, a defence exhibition, community medical services, and cultural exchanges.

This marks the fifth time the Vietnamese Navy has joined the exercise alongside navies from other nations. According to the organizing committee, this year’s event brings together naval forces from 38 countries, including host Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, China, the United States, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, France, and Australia.
