Party Secretary Ha Thi Khiet, who is also head of the Commission for Mass Mobilisation, said that during the course of history, the HCMCYU has proved to be the “socialist school” to train young Vietnamese people for the Party.
The Party and State have always paid special attention to caring, nurturing and educating the young generation, said Ms Khiet, adding that building the Youth Union means building the Party.
She noted that since its inception 78 years ago, the Party has issued many resolutions and directives regarding youth’s affairs. Most recently, the 7th conference of the 10th Party Central Committee adopted a resolution on strengthening the Party’s leadership role in dealing with youth affairs in the process of national modernisation and industrialisation.
She asked grassroots-level Youth Union chapters to pay due attention to personnel training and renew their methods of operation to attract more young people into their organisations.
She also expressed hope that young Vietnamese people will carry out practical activities to help successfully implement the resolutions adopted at the 10th National Party Congress.
Addressing the meeting, Vo Van Thuong, First Secretary of the HCMCYU Central Committee, noted that during the past 78 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the Youth Union has encouraged generations of young Vietnamese people to overcome hardships and devote themselves to the revolutionary cause.
The Union will further renew and increase the quality of its movements to meet young people’s needs and interests, said Mr Thuong.
To this end, he said, all youth union chapters should effectively carry out movements launched by the Youth Union Central Committee on socio-economic development and national defence as well as job creation. He also asked these chapters to raise the quality of their members and activities, with a focus on personnel training.
At the ceremony, the Secretariat of the HCMCYU Central Committee presented awards to 78 secretaries of grassroots-level youth union chapters.
