Nguyen Thanh Quang bagged Vietnam’s eighth gold medal on November 13 in the men’s single 200-m kayak event at the ongoing 26th SEA Games in Indonesia.
The seventh gold was clinched in track-and-field by Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc on the same day in the women’s 20-km walking event.
Earlier on November 12, her teammate, Vu Thi Huong, finished third in the women’s 100m sprint, earning a bronze medal.
The Vietnamese athletics delegation is aiming for at least seven golds at the region’s largest sporting event.
Currently, Vietnam stands among the top three in the medal tally with eight golds, including two in taekwondo, two in karatedo, two in canoeing and rowing, one in athletics, and another in gymnastics.
