Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Sakaba Mitsuo and Vietnamese Minister of Finance Vu Van Nam on October 29 exchanged diplomatic notes on a project to ensure food security for poor Vietnamese farmers.

The project will be conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency as part of the Japanese government’s non-refundable aid programme.

Under the project, the Japanese government will provide an aid package worth 360 million yen to buy Vietnamese fertilizers. The Vietnamese government will use the money from selling these fertilizers to implement socio-economic development projects in rural and mountainous regions.

This assistance package shows the Japanese government’s commitment to helping Vietnam reduce poverty and achieve sustainable economic growth.
