Quang Tri: unexpected tornado sweeps Dong Ha city

A tornado swept through Dong Ha city in the central province of Quang Tri on March 18, though no injuries were reported.

The tornado, lasting some 10 minutes, blew off roofs from several homes and caused trees to fall onto city streets.

Further, officials reported that the Hung Vuong Primary School had at least 80% of its roof blown off by the tornado.
School principal Le Minh Giam said there were 25 students from grade four and five at school when the tornado struck. The students, however, were evacuated to a safe location, he said.

"We are working to clean up and fix the roof so that the school can open normally on March 20," added Giam.
