Russia eyes mutual visa-free travel exchange with Vietnam

VOV.VN - The head of Russia’s Federal Tourism Agency has announced that it is considering proposed mutual visa-free group tourist exchanges with Vietnam, on the same basis that it now offers Chinese residents.

Currently, there are visa-free group tours between Russia and China (for travel booked through travel agencies) that simplify the rules for entering the country tremendously, he said, which have proven effective at stimulating tourism.

He noted that Russia wants to offer the same mechanism offered China in its cooperation with Vietnam.

The proposal if adopted would also greatly streamline Vietnamese citizens' entry to Russia and their exit from the country in connection with international large-scale athletic, cultural, scientific and business events.

Russia and China have had an intergovernmental agreement on visa-free tourist travel within organized groups of tourists (via travel agencies) since 2000.
