Vietnam secures two gold medals at University Games

In athletics, two athletes, Pham Thi Hue and Bui Van Dong, who are students of Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports, pocketed gold medals in the women’s 10,000m and long-jump events.

Hue finished with a time of 39min 15.2 sec, 13.3 second higher than Malaysian athlete Yin Nyein Aye.

High jumper Bui Van Dong reached 7.80m, 18 cm higher than the second-placed Malaysian athlete Luqman Hakim.

In the afternoon, the athletics team will continue to compete, starting with the women’s 400m event.

Quach Thi Lan is expected to bring home the gold medal to Vietnam at the event.

The University Games are a Southeast Asian multi-sport university event which will are held over the course of 10 days. The closing ceremony is scheduled for December 19.
