Thailand lifts safeguard duty on Vietnam steel plates

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Competition Authority on March 11 unveiled that Thai authorities have advised they are lifting the imposition of safeguard duties on the import of hot-rolled steel plates.

On September 25, 2013 Thai authorities notified the World Trade Organization of their decision to impose a definitive safeguard duty on imports of hot-rolled steel flat products from Vietnam.

This measure was applicable for a period of three years starting from the date of imposition of the provisional measure, which was February 27, 2013.

The rate of the duty was 44.20% of the CIF price from September 15, 2013 up to February 26, 2014, 43.57% of the CIF price during the second year and 42.95% of the CIF price during the third and last year.

On July 17, 2015 the Thai authorities initiated a review of the above-mentioned safeguard measure and it now has been lifted.
