The VFF Cup match between U23 Vietnam and their Uzbek rivals ended in a 1-1 draw at My Dinh stadium on October 21.

Uzbekistan opened the scoring in the second half with a close range shot. It took two minutes for the Vietnamese footballers, coached by Falko Goetz, to even the score when Van Quyet headed the ball into Uzbekistan’s net after receiving it from a corner kick by teammate Thanh Luong. Van Quyet later struck the ball hard on the bar of Uzbekistan’s goal but failed to score another goal

Vietnamese player Ngoc Anh was forced out of the match after being given a second yellow card and after that Uzbekistan encroached on Vietnam's territory but the hosts successfully managed to keep the score at 1-1 until the end of the match.

U23 Vietnam is now leading the VFF Cup, although they share four points with their Uzbek counterparts.

Vietnam will play Malaysia in their final match.
