Vietnam plans to send a 800-member sporting delegation, including 560 athletes to the upcoming 26th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) due to be held in Indonesia from November 11-22.

They will compete for 545 sets of medals in 43 sports events, namely aquatics, archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards & Snooker, bowling, boxing, canoeing, chess, cycling, equestrian, fencing, fin-swimming, football, futsal, golf, gymnastic, horse race, judo, karate, paragliding, pencak silat, petanque, roller sports, rowing, sailing, sepak takraw, shorinji kempo, shooting, soft tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, traditional boat race, volleyball, vovinam, wall climbing, water ski, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.

The Vietnamese delegation hopes to make it to the top three at this year’ largest regional sports competition, which sets a new record of having the highest number of sports events.

Currently, the Indonesia SEA Games Organizing Committee (Inasoc) is making thorough preparations for the Games and discussing measures to ease traffic congestion in Jakarta.
