Vietnam’s national football team has jumped from 144th to 129th in the August rankings, announced the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
Beating strong rivals Qatar 2-1 at My Dinh stadium in the second qualifying round of the World Cup Asian region has helped Vietnam make significant progress in the FIFA rankings.
The national team was awarded 46 more points, allowing them to rise up the table by 15 places.
Meanwhile, Spain lost its top spot, after being replaced by the Netherlands.
