Vietnam's German football coach Falko Goetz was satisfied with his team's performance, although Vietnam lost 0-1 to Japan in a friendly match in Kobe, Japan, on October 7.
The loss was not unexpected because their Japanese rivals are Asia’s No.1 seed.
The Vietnamese footballers played well, keeping Japan to the single goal scored in the 28th minute of the first half.
In the second half, Vietnam employed attack tactics and threatened to score on numerous occasions, but proved unsuccessful. The team successfully defended their goal despite Japan's constant efforts and the score remained at 0-1 until the end of the match.
Coach Goetz said the friendly match was a good trial run for the Vietnamese squad to test their strategies in preparation for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
