Vietnam pocketed a bronze medal at the International Futsal (indoor football) Tournament Hanoi 2011, losing 2-3 to Uzbekistan in the last round on October 9 at the Quan Ngua Sport Palace.

Vietnam opened the scoring in the early minutes of the second half thanks to an own goal by one of Uzbekistan’s defenders during a rapid attack from Vietnam.

Only several minutes later the visitors leveled the result and continued to raise it to 3-1, exploiting a little confusion among Vietnamese players.

Despite great efforts by Vietnam, the team could only make it 2-3 during the last seconds of the match with Luu Quynh Toan’s straight shot into goalie Umarov Rustam’s net.

The win pushed Uzbekistan to the top podium while Vietnam ranked third. In an earlier game, Qatar took the silver medal by holding China to a 2-2 draw.

Uzbekistan’s Yunusov Artur, who scored a hattrick on October 10, was voted as the best player of the tournament. Artur and Vietnam’s Toan share the best scorer title. Uzbekistan’s Rustam was also voted as the best goalkeeper of the tourney.
