Striker Nguyen Thi Hoa scored a hattrick to help Vietnam win 4-0 over hosts Laos at the second group round match of the 2011 Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) Women's Championships on October 18 in Vientiane.

Hynh Nhu needed only 73 seconds to score the first goal for Vietnam after Lao goalkeeper Hongchong Choulapanh received a red card, leaving a big hole in the hosts’ defence which Nhu easily broke through and earned her goal.

Hoa then doubled the scoring seven minutes later from the left. The striker dribbled past two defenders before slotting her goal past substitute keeper Bounyong Akhavong.

Vitnam had several chances but hit the scrossbar three times before finally getting the third and fourth goals off the sharpening Hoa in the 29th and 33rd minutes.

Vietnam were comfortable going into the second half and did not push as hard as they had done in the first 45 minutes.

Nevertheless, they hit the posts and crossbar two more times with Hoa still a handful for the Lao defence.

Laos seemed to have some space for fresh air after Hoa was replaced in the 68th minute. They had another opportunity to attack but could not get past the defence of the Southeast Asian Games queen.

In the next round on October 20, Laos will face Singapore and Vietnam will meet Indonesia.
