Three people killed in attacks in southern Thailand

At least two citizens and one soldier were killed and some others were injured in a series of coordinated attacks in the three southernmost provinces of Thailand in the night of November 2.

Thailand’s military officers said bombings, shootings and arson began on November 2 in Songkhla, Narathiwat and Pattani provinces.

The attacks occurred on the same day when members of the cabinet, led by Deputy Minister of Defence Udomdej Sitabutr, who is also a senior official of the National Council for Peace and Order, visited the southern region and met with local leaders for peace dialogues.

Especially, an attack happened near the base of the 15th Infantry Division, where Udomdej's delegation was staying.

Major General Ronnasilp Phusara, Acting Commander of Southern Border Provinces Police Operation Centre, said that two citizens killed in the attacks are security guards of a car showroom in Songkhla province.

Four gunmen riding on two motorcycles opened fire at a military facility, killing a soldier in Pattani province.
