The 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam successfully concluded in Hanoi on Tuesday after eight days of sitting, fulfilling its set agenda, said re-elected Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh at a press conference just after the congress concluded.
Japanese and Indonesian newspapers have reported on the 10th National Party Congress, which voted to elect a new Party Central Committee in the hope that economic reforms and the fight against corruption will be reinforced.
The 10th National Party Congress on April 23 voted to elect a new Party Central Committee (PCC) for the 10th tenure. It elected 160 official members from the list of 207 candidates and 25 alternate members out of 46 candidates to the 10th PCC.
The ethnic community in Vietnam comprises 54 groups, of which 53 are minority groups with a combined population of nearly 11 million, accounting for 13 percent of the national population.
